ATU to Host National Seminar on “The Desirable University in the 21st Century” Featuring Prof. Mehdi Golshani

The Scientific Association of Brain and Cognition at Allameh Tabataba'i University (ATU), in collaboration with the university’s Cognitive Science Laboratory, will host a national seminar titled “The Desirable University in the 21st Century: Science, Ethics, and Social Responsibility” tomorrow, Sunday, 27 September 2026 (5 Mehr 1405).

The seminar will feature Professor Mehdi Golshani, one of the country’s foremost physicists and philosophers of science, as the keynote speaker.

In an era where the frontiers of science, emerging technologies, and ethical dilemmas are increasingly intertwined, the fundamental mandate of academia and its broader social accountability have taken on renewed urgency. This seminar aims to provide a critical forum for students, researchers, and faculty members to reconsider the triadic relationship among scientific advancement, moral responsibility, and the civic function of universities in the twenty-first century.

Professor Mehdi Golshani is a celebrated scholar, academic pioneer, and national laureate (Chehreh-ye Mandegar):

• PhD in Elementary Particle Physics from the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley).
• Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Physics at Sharif University of Technology.
• Founder and former Head of the Department of Philosophy of Science at Sharif University of Technology.
• Fellow of the Academy of Sciences of Iran and an internationally recognized author on science, philosophy, and religion.
