Professor Hossein Salimi was ATU's President from 2013 to 2021. He is also a faculty member at the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Law and Political Sciences.

Dr Sadreddin Shariati was ATU President from 2005 to 2013. He was also a faculty member at the Department of the Philosophy of Islamic Education, Faculty of Psychology and Education.

Najafgholi Habibi

Dr Najafgholi Habibi was ATU's third President, from 1997 to 2005. He was also a faculty member at the University of Tehran.
Dr Habibi holds a PhD in Islamic Philosophy and Kalam.

Mohsen Khaliji Oskuei

Dr Khaliji Oskuei was ATU's second President, from 1988 to 1997. He was also a faculty member at the University of Tehran.
Dr Oskuei holds a PhD in Political Sociology from the University of Sorbonne, France.

Dr Ali Sheikholeslami was the first academic who was appointed as ATU's President, from 1984 to 1997. He was a faculty member at the University of Tehran.
Dr Sheikholeslami received his PhD in Persian Language and Literature from University of Tehran in 1971.
