The closing ceremony of the 16th Farabi International Award was held on 15 February 2026 at the Allameh Amini Hall of the University of Tehran. The event was attended by President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian; Dr Hossein Simaei, Minister of Science, Research, and Technology; Dr Hossein Afshin, Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy; Dr Seyed Zia Hashemi, Cultural and Social Deputy to the First Vice President; Hojjatoleslam Mostafa Rostami, Head of the Supreme Leader’s Representation in Universities; and a gathering of prominent scholars and thinkers in the humanities and Islamic sciences.

In the "Islamic Revolution and Imam Khomeini Studies" category, Dr Ebrahim Barzegar, a faculty member of the ATU Faculty of Law and Political Sciences, was honoured as the third-place winner in the Senior Researchers section for his book titled The Path (Serat): Political Understanding and Policymaking in the Thought of Ayatollah Khamenei.

The Farabi International Award was first established in 2007 by the MSRT in collaboration with prestigious research centres, with its secretariat based at the Institute for Social and Cultural Studies. Today, it is recognised as a premier scientific event at both national and international levels, dedicated to identifying and supporting valuable research in the humanities and Islamic sciences. The festival is held annually in cooperation with international organizations such as UNESCO and ICESCO, as well as the National Elites Foundation and other key domestic scientific institutions.
