ATU Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Sciences (PESS) was host to an international workshop on "Talent Detection in Sports and the Educational and Research System in Portugal" on 26 and 27 September 2017.

The first day of rhe two-day international workshop on "Talent Detection in Sports and the Educational and Research System in Portugal" was held in ATU PESS Faculty with the participation of ATU teachers and students and two Portuguese academic members as the teachers of the workshop. Dr Gholamali Kargar opened this workshop saying, "After the appointment of the new board of directors in PESS, we submitted our new policies and plans to ATU president. Some of these plans include the recruitment of new faculty members, establishment of new programmes, and establishment of Bachelor's degree programmes in ATU's School of Graduate Studies". Pointing to the addition of three new academic members to PESS since the last year, Dr Kargar added that building new sport spaces and preparation of a suitable environment is being done with the aim of preparing the means for establishment of bachelor's programmes. He then said that ATU School of Graduate Studies has just admitted master's and PhD students in the fields of Sports Management and Strategic Management and we are trying to admit more students in this School.

Kargar then mentioned that plans are at hand to have international cooperation with foreign universities to further these policies. He then mentioned the example of the travel two PESS faculty members, among many other visits, had to Coimbra University of Portugal and the new roads these visits opened in the cooperative future of the Faculty with foreign counterparts. The workshop then was continued with scientific presentations offered by Dr Rasoul Eslami and Dr Bakhtiyar Tartibian, faculty members at PESS, and Dr António José Barata Figueiredo, Dean of and faculty member at the CU Faculty of Sport Sciences and Physical Education, on talent detection in sports.
