International Conference on Translation in Intercultural Context

ATUs Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Languages held the International Conference on "Translation in the Intercultural Context" on Sunday, 5 March 2017.
On the 5th of March 2017, the International Conference on "Translation in the Intercultural Context" was convened in the Motahari Hall, thanks to the efforts of the ATU Department of German Translation, the Centre for Research in Translation Studies, and the Intercultural Philosophy Association. Prof. Kourosh Safavi, Dr Ahmadali Heydari, Dr Melika Torkaman Boutorabi and Dr Faranak Hashemi were the Secretaries at the Conference. The Conference aimed mainly at discussing the cultural dialogue among different cultures, achieving a common language, and analyzing the issues in translation and its role in intercultural exchange.
The main topics discussed in this Conference included the introduction of different famous intercultural translators; the characteristics of translations performed in intercultural contexts; intercultural translations during the history of Iran and Islam; the social factor in intercultural and philosophical translation; the traditional factor in intercultural and philosophical translation; the life-world factor in the translation of cultural and philosophical concepts; and the link between cultural-philosophical and linguistic-social structures. At this conference, a number of distinguished characters in the fields of Translation Studies and Philosophy delivered speeches, including Prof. Christiane Nord, Dr Hans-Christoph Graf von Nayhauss, Dr Roman Seidel, Prof. Farzaneh Farahazad, Dr Mohammadreza Hosseini Beheshti, Dr Abbas Manoochehri, and Dr Irmgard Pinn.
