ATU Moot Court Team Achieves Unprecedented Success at ICC Competitions in The Hague
The Moot Court Team from Allameh Tabataba'i University (ATU) has registered a historic achievement at the prestigious International Criminal Court (ICC) Moot Competitions, securing a high rank and winning several achievements. The competition was held in The Hague, Netherlands, from 11st to 18th of June 2025.
The ATU team, the sole representative from Iran, delivered a brillinant performance, placing them 21st among 111 participating teams from around the globe. This impressive ranking is a testament to the team's dedication and legal expertise on the international stage.
A significant highlight of the competition was the team's advancement to the knockout stage, securing a spot among the top 27 teams. This marks a noteworthy progression for an Iranian team in this highly competitive international event.
Moreover, in a remarkable individual achievement, Mr Shayan Mohammadkhani, a member of the ATU team, was distinguished as the second-best mooter of the competitions in the role of the prosecutor. This award underscores Mohammadkhani's outstanding oral advocacy skills.

The team's excellence was further demonstrated in the thematic sections of the competition. In the Prosecutors Section, the ATU team earned the impressive rank of 3rd in the world. Additionally, their written submission for the victim's perspective (Victim's Memorial), was ranked 8th.
The ATU team participated under the supervision of Dr Heibatollah Najandimanesh. The team was expertly guided by their coaches, Ms Mehri Chalak and Ms Sara Daneshmand.
The dedicated members of the moot team were Ms Sahel Balarak, Ms Niloufar Tol, Mr Mehdi Sadeghi, Mr Mehdi Ghasemi, and Mr Shayan Mohammadkhani.
The ICC Moot Court Competition, organized by the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies of Leiden University and the International Bar Association, is one of the most renowned competitions of its kind, drawing top law students from universities worldwide. Allameh Tabataba'i University's remarkable success in this year's competition is a proud moment for the university and the Iranian legal community.
