The student team from Allameh Tabataba'i University (ATU) demonstrated exceptional skill on the international stage, securing several prestigious awards at a recent competition held by The Hague Academy of International Law. The team, which served as the sole representative from Iran, achieved notable success in the challenging event held in The Hague in May 2025.

The competition involved an intensive 28-hour marathon testing participants in both "Negotiation" and "Written Submission" sections. The ATU team delivered an outstanding performance, earning two first-place finishes and two third-place finishes in the written section, alongside a third-place finish in the negotiation section.

Adding to the team's success, Narges Rashidi, a PhD student in International Law, was individually recognized, receiving the third prize for the best speaker of the competition.

The accomplished team members are as follows:

  • Mehdi Mohebbirad (PhD student in Public International Law)
  • Narges Rashidi (PhD student in Public International Law)
  • Seyedeh Samira Ma'rouf (MA student in International Law)
  • Amirreza Asna-Ashari (MA student in International Law)

The competition is part of The Hague Academy's "Day of Crisis" initiative, launched in 2021 to enhance the practical skills of law students worldwide. The event simulates complex international legal crises over a continuous 24-hour period, requiring teams to represent various entities such as states, international organizations, businesses, or NGOs.

The Hague Academy of International Law, situated in the Peace Palace in The Hague, is a globally recognized institution for the study of public and private international law, known for its distinguished international faculty and renowned summer courses.

This strong performance by the ATU team highlights the high academic standards and practical capabilities of its students, reinforcing the university's prominent standing within the field of international law.
