ATU honoured with the Nowruz Medal at the Fifth International Nowruz Diplomacy Event

The Fifth International "Nowruz Diplomacy" Conference and the "Nowruz Medal" Ceremony was held on the evening of Saturday, 8 March 2025, at Niavaran Cultural Centre with the presence of Hossein Entezami, Deputy Minister for Resource Development at Culture and Islamic Guidance Ministry; Mohammadreza Bahrami, Advisor to the Foreign Minister and Director-General for South Asia Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; ambassadors, scholars, artists, and representatives from Ivory Coast, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Albania, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. During the event, the Nowruz Medal was awarded to Allameh Tabataba'i University.
The Nowruz Medal symbolizes solidarity and emphasizes cultural roots in shared civilisational heritage. This medal is awarded annually to "Nowruz Narrators" to promote the spirit of unity and cultural connection among people in the region and the world. This year, it was bestowed upon Allameh Tabataba'i University for its dedication to organising cultural programs aimed at preserving Iranian culture and civilisation.
At this year’s Nowruz Diplomacy Conference, a total of nine Nowruz Medals were presented to distinguished individuals and representatives from Nowruz-related civilisations. The winners are as follows:
- Allameh Tabataba'i University – for its efforts in organising cultural events dedicated to preserving Iranian culture and civilisation;
- Vali Shah Bahrah from Herat – for his contributions to preserving and celebrating Nowruz traditions in Afghanistan;
- Ontalap Onalbaiyev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Iran – for his efforts in promoting Nowruz in various countries worldwide;
- Alejandro Fuentes, Deputy Ambassador of Cuba – for representing Cuba as a Nowruz-friendly nation and advocating for Nowruz culture in South America;
- Ebrahim Amini, Director of the film Cheshm Badoumi – for his commitment to preserving and safeguarding national identity;
- Mahmoud Karimi, Director of the film Bacheh Mardom – for his contributions to protecting national heritage and showcasing Nowruz culture in cinema;
- Mahtab Haji Mohammadi – for her efforts in promoting the discourse of peace and Nowruz among children;
- Tayebeh Mohammad – for her humanitarian efforts and advocacy of Nowruz-inspired philanthropic values;
- Professor Seyed Rouhollah Miri – for his charitable initiatives in advancing the discourse of Nowruz.
This distinguished recognition further highlights the importance of Nowruz as a cultural bridge, increasing unity and understanding across different nations and civilisations.
