ATU ranked in four subject areas in Times Higher Education Rankings 2025

Allameh Tabataba'i University has secured global rankings in four specialized subject areas in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject. This marks a significant milestone for the university, particularly with its first-ever ranking in the Arts and Humanities category.
According to THE's ranking methodology, universities are evaluated across 11 subject areas, assessing academic performance, research output, citations, industry collaboration, and international outlook. Allameh Tabataba'i University (ATU) has achieved rankings in the following fields:
Education – Ranked 401-500 globally
While ATU previously held a 301-400 ranking in this category, it remains among the top universities globally, demonstrating strong contributions in educational sciences.
Nationally, ATU secured 3rd place in Iran, following Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and Kharazmi University, and ahead of Shahid Beheshti University and Shiraz University.
Arts and Humanities – Ranked 601-800 globally
ATU entered the global rankings for the first time in this category, reflecting the international recognition of research output from the Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Languages.
ATU is 4th in Iran, following University of Tehran, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, and Shahid Beheshti University, and ahead of University of Isfahan.
Business and Economics – Ranked 801-1000 globally
ATU maintained its previous global standing in this category, highlighting the consistent academic and research performance of its Faculties of Economics and Management and Accounting.
Social Sciences – Ranked 801-1000 globally
ATU remains a key player in the social sciences discipline, with strong contributions from the Faculties of Social Sciences, Communication Sciences, ECO College of Insurance, and the Politics-related departments.
The university's inclusion in multiple subject areas demonstrates its growing global academic presence. Moreover, ATU's international research visibility and citation impact continue to improve, particularly in the arts and humanities, where ATU made a significant debut this year.
These achievements reflect the dedicated efforts of ATU faculty and researchers in publishing high-quality research and enhancing the university’s reputation in key academic disciplines.
