Report by the Directorate for International Academic Cooperation –

Thanks to a joint effort made by the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid (UAM), Allameh Tabataba’i University (ATU), the Iranian Cultural Advisor’s Office at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Madrid, and the Persian Peoples’ Study Group, UAM is going to hold the first Summer School in Iranian Studies in Spain, entitled “Persia’s Cultural Heritage Throughout History: Symbols, Stories, and Encounters”.

More About the Summer School

The Summer School has two objectives. On the one hand, it seeks to present the major political, cultural, literary, religious, and artistic characteristics of the Persian-speaking societies throughout history. Second, it aims to offer a global image of Persian culture and Iran from ancient times to the present, focusing on its historical relations with Spain.

The initiative comes from the Persian Peoples’ Study Group at UAM, the first permanent study group on Iranian Studies established in Spain, which was launched this year with the collaboration of Allameh Tabataba’i University and includes members from ATU.

Presenters from ATU

Dr Seyed Jalal Faraji, Director of International Academic Cooperation at ATU, and Dr Raffaele Mauriello, an academic member at the Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Languages, will deliver two lectures entitled “The Historical Course of Tehran’s Physical Transformation from a Small Village to the Largest Metropolis in Iran (1786-2022)” and “The Wilayat al-Faqih After the Revolution: The Vali-ye Faqih in the Constitution and Nezam of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” respectively.
