ATU Holds the Conference on Mexican Culture

Thanks to the efforts of the Department of Spanish Language of Allameh Tabataba’i University (ATU) and the Mexican Embassy in the Islamic Republic of Iran, a meeting was held in the ATU Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Languages to gain acquaintance with Mexican culture.
ATU Holds the Conference on Mexican Culture

Thanks to the efforts of the Department of Spanish Language of Allameh Tabataba’i University (ATU) and the Mexican Embassy in the Islamic Republic of Iran, a meeting was held in the ATU Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Languages to gain acquaintance with Mexican culture.

In this meeting, held with the presence of the ambassadors and representatives of Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Mexico, and professors and students from the ATU Department of Spanish Language, Dr Raghibdoust, Vice-President for Research of the ATU Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Language, started the meeting talking about the necessity of cultural empathy among nations. The meeting then continued with speeches delivered by Ulises Canchola, the Mexican ambassador to Iran, and Dr Najmeh Shobeiri, head of the ATU Department of Spanish Language. Then, Mr Aliakbar Fallahi and Ms Fariba Gorgin, translators of the works of Carlos Fuentes Macías and Octavio Paz Lozano, respectively, introduced the works and thoughts of these two Mexican authors. After that, the meeting continued with a cultural official of the Mexican embassy in Iran expanding on the conditions for obtaining a scholarship from Mexico.

The meeting was concluded with two short documentary movies on the “tourism industry and the economic and cultural state of Mexico”, a short visit to the photo exhibition showcasing some ancient photos of Mexico, and serving Mexican foods.
