A delegation of North Korean universities visited ATU Directorate for International Academic Cooperation (DIAC) on 24 May 2017.

A delegation consisting of Korean Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP) officials, and a number of Korean universities had a visit to ATU Directorate for International Academic Cooperation. In this visit, Korean Deputy Minister for MSIP; Director of International Affairs at Sun Moon University; Executive Director of Ghonnam State University; Executive Director of Kyung Hee University; and a number of officers from international officers of Kyungsung, Kyung Hee, Ghonnam, and Hankuk Universities; as well as the Director and officers from ATU DIAC participated and experienced their best practices at their institutes.

All the participants having introduced themselves, Dr Mandana Tishehyar, ATU Director of International Academic Cooperation, offered a brief explanation of the international activities conducted in ATU in student exchange, signing MoUs, memberships in international associations, holding scientific workshops, faculty exchange, etc. She then pointed to ATU's active role and membership in the Silk-Road Universities Network (SUN), and holding the international conference on the Silk Road and Transport Diplomacy, saying: "Signing and MoU with Hankuk University and its implementation through faculty and student exchange, and the opening of the Korea's Cultural House in Tehran by the Korean Embassy of Foreign Affairs are indicative of the existence of cultural commonalities and grounds for cooperation." The session then continued with the officers discussing various subjects, as student admissions process, inviting faculty members and students, signing and implementing MoUs, etc.

Then Dr Karami, Faculty Member at the MSRT Centre for International Academic Cooperation, talked about various agreements signed between Iranian and Korean industries and universities, and establishing joint degree programmes offering double degrees, saying: "South Korea is a target country for Iranian universities and I hope the existing collaborations will increase in the future."
