ATU Integrates AI and Expands Industry Partnerships in Humanities Research

Speaking on the university’s recent research achievements and the challenges faced during the Iranian calendar year 1404 (2025–2026), Dr Mandana Tishehyar, Vice President for Research at ATU, outlined the university's efforts to maintain its academic standing and enhance its social and policy contributions.

A major highlight of the university's transition toward modern technology is the development of an AI-driven "intelligent assistant" designed for the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance. Developed by a multidisciplinary team of ATU faculty members and students, the project is currently in its final stages. Alongside this project, ATU has launched an educational campaign to promote AI literacy across different departments, aimed at expanding the use of advanced digital tools in social science research and increasing the citation impact of the university's academic publications.

To enhance dialogues between academia and policymakers, ATU established the "Omid Scientific Council." The platform has hosted specialized panels bringing together scholars, senior executives, and diplomats, resulting in policy recommendations for various government and public institutions.

Dr Tishehyar also reported a threefold increase in research and development contracts with industrial and market sectors over the past year. She noted that this growth, achieved despite economic challenges, reflects the active engagement of ATU's faculty and researchers in strengthening the "quadruple helix" of cooperation among society, government, industry, and the market.

In the publishing sector, ATU has solidified its position as a leading institution for humanities and social sciences in the region. The university published 105 books (including both original research and translations) and now boasts 45 peer-reviewed journals with official national rankings.

Concluding her report, Dr Tishehyar emphasized that a primary goal for the university moving forward is to further enhance the international visibility and reach of its social sciences and humanities research on the global stage.
