An international conference focusing on investment and financing within the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries will be held at Allameh Tabataba'i University (ATU) on 27-28 October 2025. The event aims to create a synergy and advance the country's development in these crucial industries.
Hamidreza Oloumi Yazdi, head of the conference, announced the details at a press briefing, emphasizing that the conference will serve as a platform for collaboration and progress. He highlighted the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries as key drivers of Iran's economy and pillars of sustainable development, currently standing on the verge of unprecedented transformation. The conference will address the challenges and opportunities arising from increasing energy demand and the necessary transition to a low-carbon economy, with a particular focus on sustainable financing and attracting innovative investments as critical factors for the industry's growth and survival.
Oloumi Yazdi then clarified that the conference will not be limited to legal aspects but will also delve into financial, managerial, and economic dimensions, exploring various financial contracting methods, financial mathematics, and financing approaches from a mathematical perspective. The event will gather experts, managers, investors, and stakeholders to facilitate constructive dialogue, analyze existing challenges—including sanctions, banking restrictions, political risks, and competition from renewable energies—and propose practical solutions. Furthermore, it aims to introduce new financing models to create sustainable and effective partnerships among public, private, domestic, and international sectors.
Experts, academics, industry managers, researchers, and financiers are invited to contribute their insights through articles or questions to enhance the conference's practical outcomes. Oloumi Yazdi stressed that the event's applicability depends on the cooperation of industry managers and financial sectors in informing academics about their needs.
The conference seeks to create an effective interactive environment for economic actors, investors, managers, policymakers, and local and international specialists. Its objectives include examining the legal, economic, and managerial aspects of investment and financing in oil, gas, and petrochemical projects, as well as the roles of the banking system and capital markets. It will also explore contractual models in project investment and financing.
The deadline for abstract submissions is 21 June 2025, and full papers are due by 1 August 2025. Oloumi Yazdi concluded by expressing hope that the conference's scientific and executive achievements will significantly boost Iran's economic capacities and strengthen its role in the global energy market by leveraging scientific, specialized, and commercial capabilities to transform financing models for major energy projects and integrate the national economy with global markets.
The first pre-conference session, titled "Analysis of Upstream Oil and Gas Project Financing Guidelines," was held on 24 May 2025 at the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences, Allameh Tabataba'i University.
