According to ATNA, the first International Centre for Afghanistan Studies was established at the ECO College of Insurance, Allameh Tabataba'i University.

During the centre's opening ceremony, Dr Saeed Shokoohi, Dean of the ECO College of Insurance, stated: "Afghanistan, as a member of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), holds a special place for us. The establishment of the International Centre for Afghanistan Studies has been on our agenda for the past three years. Through persistent efforts, we have now achieved the goal, turning the centre into a reference for scholars and researchers to address Afghanistan's challenges and strengthen the bonds between the two nations."

Shokoohi also mentioned future plans to launch an Afghanistan Studies program at the ECO College of Insurance, expressing hope that "the program will soon be operational."

Dr Abolfazl Delavari, another faculty member at Allameh Tabataba'i University, remarked: "The purpose of establishing the International Centre for Afghanistan Studies is to bring together academic, intellectual, and cultural elites in the fields of Iran and Afghanistan. The centre can serve as a platform for exchanging ideas and discussing various issues."

He then emphasized: "Iran and Afghanistan share deep cultural and historical ties, and the people of both countries have great affection for one another. I hope the centre can actively contribute to academic and cultural endeavours."

At the end of the ceremony, Seyed Asghar Mousavi, a visiting professor at Allameh Tabataba'i University, noted: "The inauguration of the International Centre for Afghanistan Studies in Iran marks a major step towards regional research and a deeper examination of the issues in Afghanistan."
