Recognising the importance of academic, research, and technological collaboration between universities and research centres and to strengthen scientific and cultural ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation within the framework of academic and cultural activities, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on 16 February 2025 between ATU and the Centre for Scientific-Analytical Information, affiliated to the Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences. 

The ceremony was attended by Dr Mandana Tishehyar, Acting Vice-President for Research at ATU, Dr Nikolay Plotnikov, Head of the Russian Center, and members from ATU's Directorate for International Academic Cooperation.

The primary goal of the MoU is to promote and expand academic cooperation between the two institutions in fields of mutual interest within the humanities and social sciences, based on principles of equality and shared benefit.

Key provisions of the MoU include the exchange of scientific data, books, academic journals, and research documents in educational, research, and technical fields of mutual interest; joint publication of articles in relevant journals; joint publication of books and periodicals; and facilitating participation in academic activities. 

The MoU also covers faculty, student, researcher, and staff mobilities for research and educational purposes, participation in conferences, workshops, symposia, and international meetings, as well as the joint organization of conferences, seminars, workshops, and training programs aimed at academic capacity building.

Additionally, both parties agreed to provide mutual opportunities for academic fellowships, collaborate on developing new academic programs, and share experiences in various scientific and research fields.
