On Wednesday, 29 January 2025, ATU-USSUN, the United Students of the Silk Road Universities Network affiliated to Allameh Tabataba’i University (ATU-USSUN) organised its second workshop focused on the art and importance of effective letter writing in English. The workshop, led by Rasoul Firouzi, a PhD candidate in Translation Studies at Allameh Tabataba'i University and Secretary of ATU-USSUN, tried to highlight the continued relevance of letters in today’s digital age, especially in formal and professional contexts, providing hands-on techniques for effective writing in English.

In this workshop, the presenter pointed that, despite the prevalence of emails and social media, letters remain essential for formal communication in business, academia, and other official settings. He then introduced the various types of letters and the major structure in the English correspondence. The workshop provided examples of a sample cover letter and a recommendation letter so the student participants learn how to write these important letters.
