Allameh Tabataba'i University (ATU) has made significant strides in international rankings, securing a place among the world's top universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (WUR) 2025. This year, ATU was ranked 1501+ in THE WUR's global rankings.

In the latest rankings, ATU was placed in the 1501+ band, a remarkable achievement considering the highly competitive nature of global higher education and the specialised nature of the university. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings is one of the most prestigious and widely recognised university rankings globally, evaluating institutions based on teaching, research, citations, international outlook, and industry income.

Among Iranian universities, Sharif University of Technology (301-350) ranked first, followed by Amirkabir University of Technology and Iran University of Science and Technology (both 351-400). They achieved this rank from among 85 Iranian universities participating in these competitions (81 ranked and 4 included as "Reporters").

ATU was ranked alongside 11 other Iranian institutions in the 1501+ band. These universities include Alzahra University, Arak University, Damghan University, Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences, Payame Noor University, Birjand University, Hormozgan University, Qom University, Sistan and Baluchestan University, Zanjan University, and Vali-e-Asr University of Rafsanjan.

This year, Oxford University has topped the rankings for the ninth year in a row. Following closely behind were MIT, Harvard, Princeton, and other renowned institutes.
