Dr Khalatbari talks about the upcoming international conference
Report by the Directorate for International Academic Cooperation–
In his news conference with the university's Public Relations, Dr Hesameddin Khalatbari, the scientific secretary of the international conference "Prophetic Knowledge and Challenges of Today's World," talked about the Allameh Tabataba'i University's (ATU) priority in terms of "developing the Humanities" and added that the upcoming conference is in the same direction.
Dr Khalatbari pointed out that despite the advancements in science, education, and the use of new techniques to enhance people's lives, modern societies have not only failed to have moral and cultural progress, the emergence of some negative thoughts, lifestyles, and social behaviours have caused degradation and regression in these societies. Islamic societies have also encountered the influence of non-Islamic ideas promoted through media, individuals, and some political institutions, disregarding Iranian and Islamic values.
Dr Khalatbari added, while the West has shown a trend of returning to religion and religious teachings to exercise better control and leadership, Islamic societies continue to follow Western cultures, and this has resulted in several complications and problems. He claimed that removing these incompatible Western traditions from Islamic societies requires us to return to ourselves and pay attention to the prophetic teachings. To this aim, he added, there should be unwavering efforts in academic institutes to elevate human societies towards human happiness and perfection.
With the emergence of new cultures and modern science's inability to address new challenges, it is more crucial than ever to pay attention to prophetic teachings. Specialised sessions and conferences in this area allow the humanities and social science thinkers to share their thoughts in light of prophetic teachings and find useful methods to address the issue of incompatible cultures.
According to the scientific secretary of the conference, the twelve main themes of the international conference on "Prophetic Knowledge and Challenges of Today's World" are as follows: "Prophetic Knowledge and the Legal and Political Challenges", "Prophetic Knowledge and Economy", "Prophetic Teachings and Economic Development", "Prophetic Teachings and Economic Justice", "Prophetic Knowledge and Communications", "Prophetic Knowledge and the Market", "Designing New Tools based on Prophetic Teachings", "Prophetic Knowledge and Management", "Prophetic Knowledge, Psychology and Education", "Prophetic Knowledge, Theology and Islamic Studies", "Prophetic Knowledge, Literature and Arts" and "Prophetic Knowledge, Society and Community."
Dr Khalatbari announced that the conference is going to take place on 11 and 12 June 2023 at Allameh Tabataba'i University (ATU) and will be attended by experts and thinkers from various fields. He added that the conference secretariat has received 180 abstracts and articles from Tunisia, Indonesia, America, Pakistan, Turkey, Iraq, and Syria, of which nearly 130 manuscripts have been accepted to be presented at the conference.
