A political and academic Mexican delegation visits ATU

The Ambassador of Mexico to Iran, the Chairman of the Iran-Mexico Friendship Group, affiliated with the Chamber of Deputies of the United Mexican States, together with a delegation of academic figures visited Allameh Tabataba'i University on 30 April 2023 and met the university's Vice President for Research.
The Mexican delegation consisted of Mr Guillermo Puente Ordorica, the United Mexican States' Ambassador to Tehran; Lorena Panion Rivera, Chair of the Iran-Mexico Friendship Group, affiliated with the Mexican Chamber of Deputies, and a delegation of academics from Mexico.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr Davoud Hosseinpour, ATU's Vice President for Research, expressed his satisfaction with the Mexican delegation's presence on campus and presented a brief overview of the university's capacities: "ATU is the only Humanities and Social Sciences university in Iran and the largest Humanities university across West Asia. With eleven Faculties, six research institutes, 13,000 students, and 550 faculty members, the university operates exclusively in the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Vice President for Research then emphasized: "ATU is interested in cooperating with Mexican universities in the fields of teaching the Persian language to speakers of other languages, staff and student mobilities, joint international research and projects, and launching a joint science and technology park."
In the next part of the meeting, the Chair of the Iran-Mexico Friendship Group, affiliated with the Chamber of Deputies of the United Mexican States, expressed his pleasure in attending ATU and added: "Universities have a major social role in the countries' progress in the fields of education, creation of new knowledge, and training of scholars and researchers."
Pointing to the capacities available in Mexico, he said: "We are determined to cooperate with ATU, as the university is a centre for the analysis of social problems."
