ATU attends SUN's 8th General Assembly

Allameh Tabataba'i University (ATU) participated in the 8th General Assembly of the Silk Road Universities Network (SUN), which was hosted by the Canadian University of Dubai in the UAE.

The 8th General Assembly of the SUN was attended by over 150 participants, 25 university presidents from different parts of the world and a group of professors and students from the Network. Hosted by the Canadian University of Dubai, the event was held on the theme of "The Role of Universities in the Era of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data".

SUN's student secretariat, entitled the United Students of the SUN (USSUN), is responsible for organising various events throughout the year. Transferred to ATU in 2019, the USSUN is directly involved in the planning and organisation of events and communicating with all member universities.

During recent years, Iranian students have shined in USSUN events by winning 12 positions in different sections. This year, ATU students won first place in the PHOCOS (Photography Contest) and S-DECOS (Speech Contest) sections.

On the sidelines of the 8th General Assembly, a cultural exhibition was also held, and students from different countries showcased their countries' cultural artefacts.

SUN consists of 81 universities from 27 countries. To restore the spirit of the Silk Road and revive the communications and cooperation between the countries located alongside this ancient road, SUN organizes various events annually. The scientific and cultural events include various contests, educational workshops, seminars, and conferences, as well as virtual and real tours, and provide the students with the opportunity to participate in international events.
