Over 650 books published by ATU Press so far, Sharafi says

Report by the Directorate for International Academic Cooperation

In an interview published at ATNA News Agency on 21 January 2023, Dr Mohammad Sharafi, Director of ATU Press, introduced ATU Press and elaborated on the measures taken so far.

In his interview, Dr Sharafi pointed out that, like other academic publications, ATU Press is generally involved in the publication of academic journals and books. He said, “since its establishment, ATU Press has published over 650 books, of which nearly 200 titles have been reprinted, and several titles have been reprinted over 30 times. All these books are used as textbooks and academic references in the universities all around the country.”

Director of ATU Press then stated, “thanks to our partnerships with ATU Departments, over 50 scholarly journals have been published so far. About ten titles are also entering the evaluation process.”

Dr Sharafi then continued that, according to the plans at ATU Press to improve its publications, “while trying to obtain publication licenses for those departments without publications, we are more focused on developing the quality of the existing publications. In this respect, we are taking necessary measures to index the journals in international reliable databases like Scopus and WOS.”

Dr Sharfi then pointed to the plans at ATU Press to expand cooperation with prestigious publications of the country, like SAMT, Al-Hoda, and academic publishing centres at other universities to use the synergistic capacities in other publishing centres.

ATU Press is currently providing its publications to the public in book.atu.ac.ir and journals.atu.ac.ir.
