The roundtable conference in "Developments in Iran and the Region, with a Focus on the JCPOA and Ukraine" was held in ATU on 21 May 2022 in the Conference Room, Vice-Presidency for Cultural Affairs, Allameh Tabataba'i University.

The event was attended by Dr Vahid Jalalzadeh, Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission at the Iranian Parliament; Dr Abdollah Motamedi, President of Allameh Tabataba'i University; Dr Ali Adami, Vice-President for Academics; Dr Aliasghar Kia, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences; Dr Hesameddin Khalatbari Limaki, Dean of the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies, and Dr Ali Rajabzadeh, Secretary of the Roundtable Conference.

Iran is an active and powerful country and its position is important for many countries.

In this session, Dr Jalalzadeh talked about the decisions made about continuing the JCPOA talks with international entities. He then elaborated on the Russia-Ukraine war and provided an analysis of the current state of affairs in this event.

He then added that the "weakening of Russia in the current process and system is not in our interest. Russia's weakness will lead to an increase in US power in the international community. Iran has strategic relations with Russia, and it is not good for a world-renowned country to declare neutrality in this respect because Iran is an active and powerful country, and its position matters to many countries."
