MoU signed with Riphah International University

During his travel to Pakistan to participate in the third General Assembly of the COMSTECH Inter-Islamic Network on Virtual Universities (CINVU) held on 11 and 12 May 2022 in Pakistan, Professor Abdollah Motamedi, ATU President, met Professor Anis Ahmad, President of the Riphah International University (Pakistan), and talked about the universities' potentials to conduct academic cooperation.
Referring to the 70-year history of ATU, Dr Motamedi said: "ATU is the largest humanities-focused university in Iran and West Asia. It has a large capacity for international academic cooperation, thanks to its 11 Faculties, 7 Research Institutes, 5 Research Centres, 13,500 students, and 550 faculty members."
Pointing to the importance of developing humanities-Islamic sciences based on Quranic and Islamic studies and concepts, Motamedi stressed the need for the two neighbouring countries' cooperation to create indigenous and Islamic knowledge.
ATU President then invited the President of Riphah International University to visit ATU and witness the activities and progress in Iran in terms of indigenous and Islamic knowledge production, especially in the humanities, social sciences, and Quranic studies.
Dr Ahmad also expressed admiration for ATU's capacities and said: "Riphah International University is prepared to develop cultural and academic cooperation, exchange professors and students, and implement joint research projects with ATU."
In the end, the Presidents of ATU and Riphah International University signed and exchanged an MoU on expanding educational, research, and technological cooperation between the two institutes. According to the MoU, the two parties agreed to facilitate the exchange of faculty and researchers, facilitate student exchanges, hold joint international conferences and seminars, exchange books, carry out joint research and student projects, and support the establishment of chairs in Persian language and literature.
