On Sunday, 10 April 2022, ATU signed an MoU on academic cooperation with the University of San Simon in Bolivia.
MoU signed with the University of San Simon, Bolivia

In a session held on Sunday, 10 April 2022, Allameh Tabataba'i University (ATU) signed an MoU on academic cooperation with the University of San Simon (originally the "Universidad Mayor de San Simon") in Bolivia. The MoU was signed to provide further grounds for the universities to conduct international academic cooperation in various educational and research areas.

In this session, Professor Abdollah Motamedi, ATU President, provided a brief overview of the history and capacities of ATU and maintained that the university is interested in developing academic ties with universities in various countries. Moreover, he said that ATU would like to establish Master's and PhD degree programmes in the Spanish Language at ATU and set up a Persian Language Chair at the University of San Simon. He added that ATU has Persian Language Chairs at universities in China, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, and it is prepared to add another Persian Language chair at the Bolivian university. 

Professor Julio César Medina Gamboa, Rector of the San Simon University, then offered a brief introduction to his university and added that the two universities could best cooperate in the areas of humanities and social sciences, foreign languages, and oil and gas contracts.

Exchange of academic materials, joint publication of research journals, conducting joint research, student and staff mobilities for the purposes of conferences, seminars, workshops, and organisation of joint academic events are among the activities included in the MoU signed and exchanged between the two universities.

The University of San Simon was established in 1832 in Bolivia. The university has currently 15 Faculties, dispersed in 7 different campuses in Bolivia.
