A Delegation of Thai Senior University Officials Visit ATU
On 17 October 2016 Allameh Tabatabai University (ATU) hosted a university delagation from Thiand. In this visit, presidents, vice-presidents and other senior officials from Eastern Asian, Siam, and Walailak Universities negotiated common grounds for cooperation with ATU.
Prof Salimi, ATU President, after offering his condolence for the passing on of the Thai King, introduced ATU briefly and pointed to its outstanding position in Irans Humanities and Social Sciences and its high rank in terms of theorizing chairs in Humanities. He then expressed ATUs willingness to have education and research cooperation, including the holding of joint seminars and conferences, exchanging students and professors, doing joint projects, and holding workshops.
Afterwards, Prof Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University appreciated Prof Salimis condolence and introduced his university. He then expanded on the Thai Higher Education Ministrys plan to expand its ties with Asian universities, especially those located in the Middle East. Head of the Centre for Islamic Studies, Sian University of Technology, then introduced his Centre and the programs offered in it. He than invited Prof Salimi to attend the Conference on "Mutual Understanding of Buddhism and Islam", to be held bext month in Thailand, and expressed his willingness to cooperate with ATU.
