6th session of the Conference in Millennium of Khayyam held online

The Sixth session of the International Conference of the Millennium of Omar Khayyam was held online on 16 February 2021

In Sixth session of the International Conference of the Millennium of Omar Khayyam which was held online for five hours on 16 February 2021, Professor Baha al-din Khorramshahi, Dr Hassan Balkhari, Dr Jose Manuel Majias, Dr Mohammad Amirjalali, Dr Abdul Sabur Khan, Dr Najmeh Dori, Ms Xin Yi Ting, Dr Elmi Tamizal, Dr Faranak Hashemi, Dr Mohammad Mamit Al-Rasheed, Dr Fatemeh Asgari, Mr Mohammadkhani, Dr Kamuran Bozkurt, Dr Firooz As"ad, Mr Alisher Sultanov Hasanovich, and Dr Deldar Polatovakmavona presented papers on as diverse topics as Omar Khayyam"s popularity;, the relationship between Omar Khayyam and Avicenna; movement of philosophical ideas in the quatrains of Khayyam; position of Khayyam in Bangladesh; common themes in Khayyam"s poems and "Vali Bai"; Khayyam studies in Turkey; the challenge of translating Khayyam"s quatrains into German; Khayyam studies in Bengali literature; Khayyam"s reception in Italy; Khayyam studies in Iran; comparison of the concept of pessimism in Khayyam"s quatrains and Azimizadeh Halati; moral advice in Khayyam poetry as a result of incorrect translation into Russian; and the secrets to Khayyam"s popularity.
At the end of the session, Dr Reza Nazemian, Vice-Dean for Research at Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Languages, Allameh Tabataba"i University, expressed his satisfaction with the organisation of the session and, following the requests from interested participants, asked the organisers to continue and hold further iterations of the session in the future.
It is worth adding that the papers presented in the conference will be published by ATU Press and will soon be available to interested readers.
