A Top Delegation from Iraq Discuss Common Grounds with ATU

On Sunday, 16 October 2016, Allameh Tabatabai University (ATU) hosted a senior delegation from the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (IMHESR). At the beginning of this session, Professor Hossein Salimi, ATU President, offered the Iraqi guests a speech of welcome and expanded on ATUs first rank in Iran in terms of new theories in Humanities and Social Sciences. He pointed to the need for familiarization of Iranian and Iraqi scholars, saying: "Iranian scientists have novel ideas in Humanities that differs from the ideas in other parts of the world. [...] Accordingly, I believe that our professors and researchers should first be acquainted with eachother through regular sessions; then, this familiarity can be continued through different academic and research activities, including student exchange, joint research research projects, joint MA programs, etc."

Then, Dr Salam Hassan Taha, IMHESRs Deputy Minister for Scientific and International Affairs introduced Iraqi Higher Educations Systems policies for academic cooperation with top universities and said: "To achieve our aims, we intend to have negotiations with top Iranian universities, including ATU. Given the urgent need for some expertises and programs in Humanities, we hope we can enhance our ties by organizing joint seminars and sessions, establishing new programs in Humanities, and signing MoUs."
