Professor Albrecht Holds a Workshop at ATU

In line with the enhancement of its international academic collaborations, Allameh Tabataba’i University (ATU) convened a series of specialized workshops on Criminal Law, hosting Professor Hans-Jörg Albrecht, Director of the Criminal Law section of Max Planck Institute of Germany, as their instructor.

In compliance with the MoU signed between ATU Faculty of Law and Political Sciences and Max Planck Institute of Germany, four workshops were held on November 29 and 30 and December 1: “Depravity Prevention”, “Reconstructive Justice and Penal Mediation”, “Prevention of Recidivism”, and “Priorities in Reducing the Penal Population of Prisons”. The workshops were led by Professor Albrecht and the presence of a number of ATU faculties, including Dr Behzad Razavifard, Vice-Dean for Research, ATU Faculty of Law and Political Sciences, Dr Moazzenzadegan, Head of ATU Department of Criminal Law and Criminology, Dr Rahbarpour, faculty member, and a number of students from ATU and other universities.

In these workshops, Professor Albrecht elaborated on the latest scientific and research achievements in such matters as solutions for preventing depravity, principles of reconstructive justice and penal mediation between criminals and victims, prevention of recidivism, and offered some facts on the penal population of prisons in different countries, as well as solutions for coping with the excessive increase in the population of the prisons.
