On Tuesday, November 25th, 2014, Allameh Tabataba’i University (ATU) hosted a committee of faculty members of Kazan Federal University (KFU) in Russia. In this meeting, eight faculty members of the KFU Departments of Linguistics and Persian Language attended ATU to negotiate.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr Shoja Ahmadvand, ATU Vice-President for Research, greeted the guests and started to introduce ATU’s academic and research capacities. Then, pointing to the commonalities between the two nations, Dr Ahmadvand expressed the willingness of the Iranian party to cooperate with KFU and other Russian Universities.

The meeting was followed by introductory remarks offered by Dr Mandana Tishehyar, ATU Director of International Academic Cooperation, concerning the enhancement of the cooperation between contemporary Iran and Russia, as well as their universities.

Dr Hasanzadeh-Niri, Head of ATU Department of Persian Language and Literature, having welcomed the guests, acknowledged ATU’s willingness to teach Persian to non-Persian speakers and exchange professors and students. Then, Dr Aida Fatahava, Head of the Russian Committee, appreciated ATU’s hosting and introduced KFU. She also expressed her willingness to collaborate and exchange with professors and students in the fields of Persian and Arabic languages and literature.

Then, faculty members of the two institutions negotiated on the potential areas of cooperation in the fields of Arabic language and literature and International Relations. The meeting was concluded with both parties hoping for further meetings to sign an MoU finally.
