- Abstract
- Research Focus: The study investigated the integration of Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) and Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) into EFL teaching.Methods: A mixed-methods approach was used, including questionnaire development and administration, a MALL TPACK teacher education course, and semi-structured interviews.Findings:Questionnaire Validation: The developed MALL TPACK and SoC questionnaires were found to be valid and reliable.Teacher Knowledge and Concerns: Preservice EFL teachers demonstrated strong content and pedagogical knowledge but had lower scores in technological aspects. Stage ۲ (capacity for change) was the highest stage of concern for technology implementation.Impact of Teacher Education: The MALL TPACK course significantly improved teachers' SoC profile, overall MALL TPACK knowledge, and specific components like using technology, pedagogical content knowledge, and TPACK.Qualitative Insights: Before the course, teachers primarily used mobile technology for superficial purposes. After, they demonstrated a shift towards more meaningful integration of MALL TPACK. The course also enhanced their digital competence, individualized instruction, and adaptability.Implications: The study highlights the importance of MALL TPACK teacher education in promoting effective technology integration in EFL classrooms. Future research and teacher education programs should prioritize MALL TPACK training to equip teachers with the necessary competencies for engaging and personalized learning.
