The present study aimed to investigate the two-dimensional kinematic differences between standardized landing (as measured by LESS) and actual landing in sports movements. Considering that landing mechanics play a critical role in athletic performance and are a key factor in the risk of lower-extremity injuries, analyzing the biomechanical differences between these two landing conditions can provide valuable insights for sports training and injury prevention. Using ۲D video analysis from sagittal and frontal views, joint angles—particularly knee and ankle flexion—were examined across two specific motor tasks (rebound and three-step landings) in a sample of elite female athletes. Statistical analyses including paired-sample t-tests, Wilcoxon signed-rank tests, and simple linear regression were employed to compare joint behavior between landing phases and predict landing kinematics based on task conditions. The findings indicated significant differences in knee flexion angles between the two landing conditions in most cases, especially in the sagittal view, highlighting the functional demands of real-sport landings compared to standardized tests. However, in certain cases, such as frontal-plane knee flexion in three-step landing, no statistically significant difference was observed. These results suggest that task-specific landing mechanics must be considered in designing corrective exercises and sport-specific injury prevention protocols.
