Abstract

"This thesis has been conducted through effort and research on the topic of 'Understanding the Lived Experience of Women with Non-religious Backgrounds' in terms of sociological theories and social research. It investigates the impact of changing attitudes toward religion on the life decisions, individual identity, and spirituality of these women.

In this regard, we have examined and analyzed the experiences, attitudes, and changes that women have undergone on their path towards religious orientation. This thesis not only delves into the experiences of women in their religious orientations but also seeks to gain a deeper understanding of the processes and motivations that occur behind the bond to religion and the reconstruction of identity. It aims to uncover the untold stories of these unique and personal experiences. The shift in religious attitudes is a complex phenomenon that takes shape individually and personally for each person and can lead to spirituality and finding meaning in life.

This research has been conducted using qualitative research methods and thematic analysis, with interviews of eighteen religious women with non-religious backgrounds. It strives to reach deeper insights into their change in religious attitudes. A detailed analysis of women's experiences and perspectives in this regard allows for the identification of common patterns in changing religious attitudes within this group. This research has shown that experiences of spirituality and finding meaning in life are recognized as key factors in this change in attitudes. These changes are related to the passage through the turbulent period of adolescence, intellectual maturity, reconsideration of personal identity, spiritual experiences, and even fatigue with modern life. We hope that this research provides a solid foundation for a better understanding of the experiences of religious women with non-religious backgrounds, contributes to increased knowledge in this field, facilitates the exchange of concepts between religious and social research, and has a significant impact on the formulation of social policies and programs."
