- In this study, the aim was to explore decision-making and free will, and to examine the differences between brain activity time and click time in two different conditions (letter and number), as well as the occurrence of brain activities before conscious decision-making. For this purpose, a simple cognitive task was designed and the fNIRS method was used to measure brain activities. Additionally, efforts were made to ensure the conditions necessary for an action to be considered free were met. The results showed significant differences between brain activity time and click time, indicating the occurrence of brain activities before conscious decision-making. Furthermore, significant differences were observed between the two conditions, with letter processing being easier and faster than number processing. No differences were observed between male and female participants in the time taken to complete the cognitive task. These findings are consistent with existing theories on free will and suggest that brain activities occur before individuals make decisions and click. Additionally, letter processing is faster than number processing, and there are no gender differences in decision-making and information processing as per the task conducted in this research.
