    Abstract

      International Research Collaborations (IRC) are recognized as a powerful tool in accelerating innovation processes and scientific advancement globally. These collaborations arise from the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and resources among different countries, playing a crucial role in generating innovative knowledge and driving scientific progress. Especially in interdisciplinary fields like cognitive sciences, international collaborations hold significant importance. Cognitive sciences, encompassing disciplines such as neuroscience, psychology, artificial intelligence, and linguistics, require global cooperation to advance research and address their complex challenges. Moreover, in today's world, especially with industrial transformations and future-oriented needs, countries view cognitive sciences and technologies as one of the key foundations for progress towards Industry ۴.۰ and ۵.۰. This field, with its unique capabilities in offering solutions for artificial intelligence, natural language processing, intelligent decision-making systems, and brain-computer interface technologies, is recognized as a core pillar and prerequisite for the development of novel technologies in these industrial development paradigms. This research aims to identify the patterns of international collaborations in the field of cognitive sciences. The sub-goals of this study include identifying leading countries and pioneering institutions in international collaborations, examining the relationship between international cooperation and its impact on research in cognitive sciences, and outlining the transformation of thematic trends in these collaborations. Thus, the study investigates the relationship between these collaborations and the production of scientific papers, citation increases, and shifts in thematic areas within cognitive sciences. Given the strategic importance of cognitive sciences in industrial and technological developments of the future, particularly in the transition to Industry ۴.۰ and ۵.۰, this research can help provide a better understanding of the impact of international collaborations on research trends, as well as their influence on the growth of cognitive sciences topics worldwide. This study can assist policymakers in gaining an accurate understanding of the key players in international collaborations, particularly leading countries and institutions, and the influence of these collaborations on citations. Ultimately, the findings can guide policymakers in shaping regulations, supportive policies, and incentives, utilizing international collaboration mechanisms to advance the field. Despite the increasing significance of international research collaborations in advancing science and technology, especially in interdisciplinary fields like cognitive sciences, there is still a lack of precise understanding of the patterns of these collaborations and their impact on knowledge production, citation increase, and the evolution of thematic trends in the field. Especially considering the pivotal role of cognitive sciences in industrial transformations and technologies of Industry ۴.۰ and ۵.۰, clarifying these patterns and their effects on research could contribute to more effective policymaking and the enhancement of research trends in this field.
