This study examines the concept of enmity in the Holy Qur’an from the perspective of conceptual metaphor theory. The Qur’an, as a divine text, conveys many abstract concepts through tangible and sensory images, enabling human beings to better comprehend them. One of the most frequently recurring concepts is enmity, which appears in various contexts, such as the enmity between humans and Satan, between believers and disbelievers, and even within social relationships among people. The methodology of this thesis is descriptive–analytical, seeking to demonstrate how the Qur’an employs metaphors to clarify abstract and mental concepts by means of concrete elements such as light, darkness, stone, and path. The findings indicate that enmity in the Qur’an is not limited to its direct meaning of physical conflict or warfare; rather, it also embodies psychological, spiritual, and social dimensions, making it a complex and multi-layered concept. Common metaphors in this domain include motion metaphors (such as the straight path and the crooked path), metaphors of hardness and solidity (such as the heart being harder than stone), and metaphors of light and darkness (to represent guidance and misguidance). Overall, this research shows that conceptual metaphors in the Qur’an are not merely rhetorical embellishments, but rather cognitive tools that help humans grasp profound religious concepts through their everyday sensory experiences. Therefore, the study of enmity from this perspective reveals that the Qur’an presents a coherent cognitive system that encompasses the existential, moral, and social dimensions of human life.
